SEL-2240 Axion™ Distributed Control and Integration Platform:

The SEL Axion™ is a fully integrated modular input/output (I/O) and control solution ideally suited for utility and industrial applications. It combines the communications, built-in security, and IEC 61131 logic engine of the SEL Real-Time Automation Controller (RTAC) family with a durable suite of I/O modules that provide high-speed, deterministic, control performance over an EtherCAT^® network.

Whether your application calls for a remote terminal unit (RTU) or an ultrarugged programmable logic controller (PLC), the SEL-2240 will be a good match. All of the SEL Axion modules are rated from –40° to +85°C and can optionally include conformal coating. The system is designed to be flexible; use the right combination of modules and nodes in almost any arrangement to suit the job. The SEL-2244-3 Digital Output Module has substation duty contacts (30 A make, 6 A carry) in order to provide reliable operation and flexible application.

Underground Fault Indicators

SEL offers a variety of fault indicators for use on subsurface or pad-mounted transformers, subsurface or pad-mounted switchgear and sectionalizing cabinets, junction boxes, and splices. Choose from single-phase underground or three-phase underground (single-phase sectionalized or three-phase sectionalized), depending on your application. Select from manual, timed, or automatic reset models, cable- or battery-powered. An auxiliary contact option provides SCADA compatibility. SEL fault indicators help identify and locate temporary and permanent faults faster, enabling the utility to make repairs and restore power faster.

Wireless Solutions

SEL is continuously developing new radio communications products for underground applications. The SEL RadioRANGER^® Wireless Fault Indication System works with an RF link between the Wireless Interface and a Remote Fault Reader, enabling crews to determine the fault indicator status and locate faults on distribution networks, without needing to enter a vault or open a pad mount. The WSO - Wireless Sensor for Overhead Lines stores load and temperature data, and monitors the distribution line for loss of voltage, loss of current, or fault events. Data packets are periodically transmitted by radio. With either product, faulted sections of cable are detected in half the time, line crews can be dispatched faster, and service is restored.

SEL ICON - Integrated Communications Optical Network

The SEL ICON™ provides a new approach to solving voice and data communications network design.

The ICON combines SONET and Ethernet technologies with flexible drop interfaces to provide an integrated data and voice communications solution in a single platform.

The ICON provides the communications infrastructure for complete end-to-end solutions and complex applications, including:

The SEL ICON is easy to configure and manage using SEL-5051 Network Management System Software. With SEL-5051 Software, users can implement system security management procedures and achieve NERC CIP compliance.

The ICON is available in a 19-inch, shelf-mount package and an 8-inch, DIN-rail or panel-mount package. Power supply modules, available in redundant configurations, provide power to each module as well as to Ethernet ports on the line module for connecting Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices. All ICON modules are hot-swappable.

This compact, ten-window annunciator is ideal for displaying alarm conditions and notifying personnel of abnormal conditions in each individual rack, panel, generator, equipment block, power line terminal, assembly line, conveyor, or other apparatus. Communications ports on the annunciator enable many cost- and labor-saving configurations. For example, use the SEL-2533 as a combined annunciator and field I/O module by wiring contact inputs and outputs to the SEL-2533 and then communicating digitally to a plant's distributed control system (DCS), SEL RTAC^®, another SEL-2533 station computer, or other device. Or, order the SEL-2533 without any local I/O, and drive the annunciator inputs with information from remote devices via the communications ports.

The SEL-2522 is an excellent choice for the annunciation of alarms and operating events. With the ability to indicate the status of up to 36 inputs, the SEL-2522 can be scaled to indicate as few or as many points as needed for each application. Multiple alarm panels can be used for high-density alarm applications. Field configurable labels give the alarm panel the ability to be modified if changes in the number or type of devices being monitored should occur. A wide range of power supply voltages and contact input voltages allows the SEL-2522 to be installed in virtually any system.
